While the University of Rochester is one of the top-ranked research universities in the country, it is also one of the smallest. That means when you're going to get a 9:1 ratio of students to teachers whether you're studying to work on American and Canada trademark patents as an engineer or are thinking of pursuing studies in the arts. There are more than two hundred academic majors to choose from in over 150 buildings, making this a place of nearly infinite possibilities.
Now, the University of Rochester can boast to having such notable alumni as opera singer Renee Fleming and the current United States Secretary of Energy Steven Chu. But long before people like that were attending this institution it was a Baptist-sponsored school that opened its doors in 1850. It was originally meant to be the new location of what is now Colgate University in nearby Hamilton, New York. But when that plan fell through a group of former trustees from Colgate along with faculty and students created the University of Rochester. In their first year they had sixty students and now there are more than eight thousand graduate and undergraduates at the school currently taking courses on everything from finance to marketing food product launches.
Publications from the US News and World Report to the Kaplan College Guide have given this university a top of high ranking when it comes to everything from the "New 25 Ivies" to the best graduate schools. If you're thinking of working at a language school Canada based or on Wall Street when you're done than you can be sure that you're starting out with a high level of education when attending the University of Rochester. If you're thinking of leaving behind an after school job working at the supermarket to pursue a career in music or are wanting to move from manure management to medicine than you will be happy to know that these two programs are especially well regarded.
The current cost of tuition for one year for undergraduates attending River Campus is just over $39,000. But if you've spent the summer working with a power quality analyzer or as a camp councilor and still don't have this much money than there may still be a change to attend this institution. The school and government give out millions of dollars in financial aid every year to deserving students with a combination of good grades and extra curricular experience. There is also the option of getting a student loan.
